Makara Thach Sernett is a fine art painter and muralist located in Louisville, Kentucky, whose work primarily focuses on acrylic, oil and watercolor paint.

Makara was born in 1989 in southern Vietnam, but due to political and cultural conflict surrounding indigenous Cambodians in Vietnam, her family sought a life in America. Her earliest years were spent in a refugee camp before immigrating to America in 1999. Initially aspiring to a career in law, Makara decided instead to pursue her love for painting as a full time artist.

Makara has exhibited her works across the nation in Alaska, Texas, Ohio, Indiana and all across Kentucky. She recently completed the Collider Artist-in-Residence with the Louisville Free Public Library in Louisville, Kentucky.
