Chronic pain update & looking forward to my first vintage market

Most of the artworks I’ve made were made during long stretches of chronic pain. Imagine a relentless pull to the left side of your neck. It limits your range of motion no matter how much you stretch and massage. On top of that, it’s as if someone took a heavy duty crimper and clamped onto your neck muscles on the left side. That’s been my daily experience for over a decade.

But guess what? I’m happy to announce that most of my chronic pain has been successfully managed as of this month! I was finally able to receive nerve blocks on my neck and boy I had no idea how I was functioning before. I find myself thinking “this is how most people’s necks feel?”

With this change, I find that I’m so much more productive and way less cranky. It’s just about time too, because my busy market/show season is starting. And it’s not going to stop anytime soon!

The most pressing matter right now is getting my vintage frames ready for sale at the Fleur de Flea’s Vintage Urban Outdoor Market. See, a local photographer retired recently after a long successful career and I was fortunate enough to acquire all of his pre-made frames: carved solid wood and gilded silver or gold. They are truly magical and I can’t wait to share them with you at this market. They will be priced so sell for sure.

Here’s the main worry for me: how can I display them in a way that respects the frames, but is also manageable for me and my team? Not to mention how I’ll be hauling them… there are over 300 frames!

Here’s to good intentions and planning in ernest. Wish me luck!
