Recognizing Juneteenth — Honoring History, Uplifting Community

Hi friend,

Today, I join in recognizing Juneteenth — a powerful day marking the end of slavery in the United States and celebrating the ongoing journey toward freedom, justice, and joy for Black communities across this country.

As an artist, I believe deeply in the power of creative expression as a vessel for healing and remembrance. Today, I pause to honor the resilience of generations past and the voices still rising today with strength and beauty.

Juneteenth is not only about remembering history — it's about amplifying Black joy, culture, and stories, and standing in solidarity.

I had the honor of meeting a new friend and fellow artist, Darryl Tucker — a gifted finger painter whose work and presence radiate joy and resilience. His artistry is matched by his dedication, and I’m thrilled to share that he was recently recognized as one of the Honorees for Louisville Business First’s Family Business Innovator Award. What an incredible and well-deserved accomplishment! You can follow his amazing work on instagram https://www.instagram.com/darryltucker3929/?hl=en

Whether through quiet reflection, community celebration, or supporting Black artists and businesses, I hope this day invites you to reflect, uplift, and reconnect with what truly matters.

Yours Truly,
Makara
