A New Year, A New Tradition

A New Year, A New Tradition

Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday to me 🤍

In the spirit of the New Year and new beginnings, I wanted to take a moment to share a small change to how I’ll be staying in touch.

For a while now, I’ve been writing weekly letters as a way to connect — sharing upcoming events, studio updates, and the small ramblings or thoughts that have been floating through my mind. I’ve really loved having that space to share pieces of myself, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of that journey.

As we move into this new year, I’m letting the weekly newsletter gently come to a close. Going forward, I’ll be shifting to a monthly newsletter that is lighter and simpler. It will include a short roundup of what I’ve been working on, last-minute updates, and the occasional flash sale or special announcement. A way to lower the clutter, for both me and receivers of the newsletter, while still sharing the most pertinent things happening in my world.

That said, this isn’t a goodbye.

If you’ve enjoyed the more personal — sometimes heartfelt, sometimes messy — reflections, those will continue to live here on the studio blog, updated weekly. My thoughts and reflections will be here whenever you feel like visiting, without landing in your inbox every week. I’ll also be uploading prior newsletters to the blog, so if there’s one that resonated with you, you’ll be able to find it here as well 🩵

So this is a small farewell to the weekly letter, and a sincere thank-you for being here through it.

Before I go, a couple of exciting updates:

✨ Lantern Workshop at Otaku Lounge
I’ll be hosting a New Year wishes lantern workshop at Otaku Lounge in Louisville, Kentucky on January 10th. Tickets are available here.

📚 Library Residency
I also have a residency at the library on the horizon. Stay tuned for more information — I’m really excited about where this one is headed.

Thank you for reading, and for supporting all the transitions we move through together. I’m so grateful to start another year with you here.

Yours truly,
Makara
