A Little Whimsy, Courage, and Joy — Renaissance Fair Magic 🎭🌿

Hi friend,

I wanted to share something a little different with you today — something purely for the joy of it.

Every summer, my friends and I gather our handmade cloaks and a healthy dose of childlike wonder and head to the Renaissance Fair here in my home state. It’s a magical festival that transports you to a world of knights, jesters, falconers, and fairy wings — a playful space where history dances with imagination and everyone is invited to be part of the story.

I’ve always loved creating — not just with paint, but with needle and thread, too. Sewing is a quiet hobby of mine, and I delight in crafting my own costumes for this event. Whether it’s a potion maker, or a wandering storyteller, I get to become someone new — or maybe just more of myself.

But I’ll be honest — the first time I ever went to the fair, I was nervous. It felt far outside my comfort zone. I didn’t know how to dress, what to expect, or if I’d even enjoy it. And part of me worried — What would people think? Was it too silly? Too much?

Still, I mustered the courage to try — and what opened up was a whole world of laughter, freedom, and wholehearted fun.

This echoes the message in my previous solo show called Courage to Try and to be kind to yourself on your own journey.

Seek out what brings you wholehearted joy.

So here’s my little nudge to you, from one dreamer to another:
✨ Embrace what delights your spirit.
🎭 Wear the costume.
🌸 Dance barefoot.
🌿 Say yes to the things that make you feel alive.

Only you can pursue your own happiness — and that joy ripples outward more than you’ll ever know.

Yours truly,
Makara

P.S. Have you ever been to a Renaissance Fair or done something just for the fun of it lately? I’d love to hear what lights you up – I’ll follow up with you via snail mail and a free note card as a reminder to have courage to try.
