✨ From My Heart to Yours This Independence Day | Honoring Freedom, Creativity & the Journey

As fireworks bloom in the sky and laughter fills the air, I’m taking a quiet moment to reflect — to marvel, really — at how life’s winding paths can lead us somewhere beautiful.

There was once a little girl who flew alongside dragonflies at the edge of a refugee camp… who traced stories in the sand and wove patterns into coconut leaves — never knowing what art truly was. Where I grew up, art wasn’t something you pursued. It wasn’t nurtured, encouraged, or celebrated. Yet even then, something joyful and wondrous stirred quietly in my soul.

That little girl was me.

Years later, when life finally brought me to America, I discovered a world where art was everywhere — in classrooms, galleries, and communities. A place where creativity wasn’t just allowed — it was cherished. For the first time, I saw that the things that once lived only in my daydreams could become something real. Something shared. Something that could grow.

All these years later, here I am — living in a place where freedom isn’t just an idea, but something I feel every day through the simple, beautiful act of creating. To live a life where I make art with my own hands… where I can share color, texture, comfort, and a little bit of magic with kind souls like you — that is a freedom I hold dearly.

This journey — from the edges of the camp to the rhythms of life here in America — has shaped every brushstroke, every pattern, every story I create. Art has always lived in my soul, quietly guiding me home to myself. And now, with every collection — like Wandering Daydreams — I get to transform those memories, reflections, and moments of wonder into something that lives beyond me.

So today, I’m celebrating:
🎨 The freedom to create — to speak through the language of art
🕊 The gift of community — the joy of connecting with others through beauty and story
💫 The resiliency, wonder, and whimsy that carried me here — and continues to guide my hands

Whether your day is filled with sparklers, laughter, fireworks, or quiet moments of reflection, I hope it reminds you of the beauty in your own journey — and how far you’ve come, too.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of this story with me.

Yours truly,
Makara

P.S. If you feel like adding a little magic to your space, my shop is always open — filled with artwork made from my hands, heart, and a sprinkle of wonder.
